EcoFlow has introduced a groundbreaking accessory that combines sun protection with technology: the Power Hat. This unconventional piece of headgear is a wide-brimmed, floppy hat embedded with solar panels, designed to charge your smartphone while you enjoy the outdoors. Priced at $129, the Power Hat aims to keep your devices powered up during your adventures, whether you’re lounging at a campsite or navigating a sun-scorched desert.
The Power Hat’s solar cells are crafted from passivated emitter and rear contact (PERC) monocrystalline silicon, a thin, flexible material that efficiently converts sunlight into electricity. According to EcoFlow, the hat can fully charge a 4,000mAh smartphone in just 3 to 4 hours. It features both USB-A and USB-C connectors conveniently located on the underside of the brim, offering up to 12 watts of power. Despite its tech-savvy nature, the hat remains lightweight at just 370 grams.
Built to withstand various weather conditions, the Power Hat is IP65 rated, meaning it is dust-proof and can handle water jets from any direction. However, EcoFlow notes that this protection might not extend to high-pressure water streams, such as those from a super soaker. The hat comes in two adjustable sizes: 56–58 cm (22–22.8 inches) and 59–61 cm (23.2–24 inches), ensuring a comfortable fit for most wearers.
Currently available for pre-order until August 31st, EcoFlow plans to start shipping the Power Hat in mid-September. The hat promises to blend style with function, making it a must-have for tech enthusiasts and outdoor lovers alike. For more information and to watch the promotional video, visit The Verge.
