On May 7, automotive enthusiasts were treated to a glimpse of the future as Geely Galaxy unveiled official images of its groundbreaking all-electric SUV, the E5. Positioned as the pioneering electric offering in the Galaxy series, the E5 promises to redefine the landscape of electric vehicles with its innovative features and impressive range capabilities.
According to CarNewsChina, the Geely Galaxy E5 is poised to enter the market with a price range estimated to be between RMB 150,000-200,000 (USD 20,800-27,700) and is scheduled for an official launch in the second quarter of this year.
At the heart of the Geely Galaxy E5 lies the Geely Electric Architecture (GEA), a revolutionary platform derived from the Sustainable Energy Architecture (SEA). Boasting the title of the world’s first four-in-one intelligent AI architecture, GEA integrates hardware, system, ecology, and artificial intelligence to deliver a seamless driving experience.
Measuring 4615/1901/1670 mm with a wheelbase of 2750 mm, the E5 exudes a commanding presence on the road. Its sleek design is accentuated by a closed matrix light grille, sharp headlights, and distinctive C-shaped vents, reminiscent of its predecessor, the Geely Galaxy E8.
The rear of the E5 features an integrated high-mounted brake light and a through-type taillight package, characterized by a wave-shaped light element in the center, adding a touch of sophistication to its aesthetic appeal.
While official powertrain details are yet to be disclosed, Geely has hinted at an 11-in-1 smart electric drive coupled with a Shendun battery, enabling the E5 to achieve an astounding range of 2000 km. Additionally, the single-motor version showcased at China MIIT boasts a maximum power of 160 kW and utilizes a lithium iron phosphate battery, with a top speed of 175 km/h.
Stepping inside the cabin, occupants are greeted by a minimalist yet futuristic interior. Highlights include a dual flat-bottom steering wheel, a head-up display, a full LCD instrument panel, and a central control screen integrating the Flyme Auto operating system powered by the 7nm Dragon Eagle-1 chip. Other notable features include OTA updates, wireless mobile phone charging, heated/ventilated/8-point massage front seats, and a premium 16-speaker audio system.
With the Geely Galaxy E5, the automotive industry witnesses a leap forward in electric vehicle technology, promising not only an eco-friendly driving experience but also a glimpse into the future of mobility. As anticipation mounts for its official launch, the E5 stands poised to revolutionize the electric SUV segment, setting new standards for performance, range, and innovation.
