SpaceX has launched the third iteration of its Starlink terminal, boasting a sleeker, lighter design with a 10% wider field of view. Strikingly, the new terminal discards the motor for position adjustment, opting for a stand instead. Initially exclusive to a limited U.S. audience, the device promises improved protection against dust and moisture with a robust IP67 rating, enabling it to withstand submersion in water up to 1 meter deep for 30 minutes.
In an instructional video, SpaceX advises users to determine the nearest satellite position via smartphone and manually adjust the terminal using the provided stand. The Starlink package includes a third-gen router, antenna with electronic phased array technology, and a power supply. The router, equipped with Wi-Fi 6 technology, supports up to 235 devices, covering an impressive range of 297 square meters.
This Starlink iteration aligns with SpaceX’s commitment to enhancing user experience and expanding its global satellite internet network. With a focus on ease of installation and durability, the latest advancements signal SpaceX’s ongoing dedication to revolutionizing satellite-based connectivity.
