In a world that works in social media reels for all purposes — TikTok recently launched ‘CapCut,’ a free editing tool that is now available for Windows. The app was created to allow beginners to edit and add features to their videos.
TikTok and CapCut are owned by the same parent company called ‘ByteDance.’ . However, a new built-in editing tool through the app is available on Windows for short-form video creators. Previously known as ‘Jianying’ in China, the app allowed users to make their videos ‘look professional’ by adding features such as change speed, cut, reverse, add music, text and transitions, apply stickers, and more. The Sensor Tower report claims that the old version received more than 250 million installations worldwide from the App Store and Google Play.
In December 2020, ByteDance renamed the app CapCut, and it stayed the same to allow users to edit and publish videos. You can start by clicking on “New Project” and adding photos and videos from the gallery to edit. Under “Edit,” options appear at the bottom, allowing the user to edit by adding audio, effects, text, transitions, overlay among other things. Photos or videos can be previewed for the final result.
